Tesla product design director: Apple products have nothing to look forward to

Franz von Holzhausen, director of product design at electric car maker Tesla (Tesla), recently publicly commented on Apple’s design principles and products, lamenting that “Apple has not provided anything to look forward to.”

Franz von Holzhausen said in a recent interview with Spike Feresten’s Podcast “Spike’s Car Radio” that he thinks Apple’s products are just a continuation of the previous generation, just a slight upgrade of the same thing. It’s hard to be motivated by what Apple does.

Hearing Franz von Holzhausen say this, some people may think that he does not use Apple products at all, but Franz von Holzhausen admits that he is using Apple Watch; he emphasizes that he will use Apple Watch just to obtain fitness data, otherwise it will be difficult to achieve other purposes through Apple Watch .

According to the data, Franz von Holzhausen has been working at Tesla since 2008 and is responsible for designing the Tesla Model S, Model 3, Model X and Model Y, as well as the Cybertruck, which has not yet been mass-produced. Before joining Tesla, Franz von Holzhausen was director of product design at Mazda.

It’s not a matter of a day or two for Tesla and Apple to dig at each other. After all, the two companies often poach each other’s employees, and various grievances have a long history. Tesla CEO Elon Musk has repeatedly attacked Apple in public. For example, in 2015, Musk called Apple a “Tesla graveyard” and choked, “If you can’t make it at Tesla, then Just go to the apple.”
