Samsung’s 4nm did not solve the fever, Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Plus to find TSMC foundry

Foreign technology media “wccftech” reported that after the mobile processor manufacturer Qualcomm launched the annual flagship processor Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, it adopted the same model as in 2021, and then launched a mobile processor with more advanced performance, which is known as Snapdragon. 8 Gen 1 Plus. Qualcomm hopes that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Plus mobile processor will be delivered faster to replace the current mobile processor, mainly because the foundry Samsung 4nm process is “not powerful”!

While TSMC is busy producing Apple chips at 4nm, Qualcomm has no choice but to use Samsung’s 4nm to produce the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 without the spare capacity for Qualcomm. However, it is rumored that Qualcomm is negotiating with TSMC, hoping that after TSMC has finished producing chips from other manufacturers, 4nm can produce Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Plus for Qualcomm and launch it as soon as possible to replace Snapdragon 8 Gen 1.

Qualcomm hopes that the heat problem of the processor produced by TSMC’s 4-nanometer will not be improved. Even if mobile phone manufacturers seek other cooling methods to reduce processor heat, the most fundamental way is to solve heat with advanced manufacturing process. According to the exposure documents, some mobile phone manufacturers have decided to use Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Plus and more advanced components in their new mobile phones.

There is very little information about the new generation of mobile processors tentatively called Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Plus. It can only be speculated that the CPU core equipped with ARM Cortex-X2 and the Adreno 730 single Kryo GPU core have higher computing speed. Traditionally, a powerful successor processor is usually launched in the second half of the year, but market news is that Qualcomm hopes that the new mobile processor will be available sooner, so the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Plus may be launched earlier.
