Ming-Chi Kuo: Apple is expected to launch a 30W gallium nitride charger this year

According to the latest prediction of Ming-Chi Kuo Twiiter, a well-known analyst at Chinese-funded Tianfeng Securities, Apple is preparing to launch a 30W gallium nitride charger, which is expected to have a redesigned appearance, which may be launched this year. However, Ming-Chi Kuo did not make it clear which Apple products the 30W charger will be used in.

For many consumer electronics enthusiasts, a 30W charger sounds like nothing, after all, in the Android camp, many mobile phone manufacturers continue to introduce high-wattage chargers.

But for Apple, the 30W gallium nitride charger has its meaning; because the new charger product can be used not only for the iPhone 14 series in the second half of the year, but also for the entry-level MacBook Pro, iPad Air and iPad Pro.

Apple’s first gallium nitride charger product was launched last year, a 140W USB-C charger for the 16-inch MacBook Pro; compared to traditional chargers, gallium nitride makes the charger smaller, lighter, and more energy-efficient.

But Apple usually doesn’t make a big deal when it launches new chargers, but chooses to quietly appear next to new products as a foil; some foreign media believe that Apple may put a new charger next to the new iPad Air.

According to Apple’s new environmental protection policies in recent years (for example, the iPhone box is no longer attached to a charger), if you want to buy a 30W gallium nitride charger, you may have to pay for it separately.
