Disappointed that the presentation didn’t wait for the M2 Mac? Foreign media: Apple is preparing to push M2 and M2 Pro chips

Apple held its first new product launch this year in the early morning of the 9th Taiwan time. Originally, the outside world expected to see M2 chips and new Mac products equipped with M2 chips, but Apple only launched the M1 Ultra chip, the last M1 series chip, and launched new Mac products. Series Mac Studio.

The Mac Studio is basically based on the Mac mini, so after the Mac Studio was announced there was some speculation that the Mac mini product was coming to an end? “9to5mac” reported that the advent of Mac Studio does not mean that the Mac mini series will be abandoned, and now Apple is developing a new Mac mini, which will launch two versions in the future, equipped with M2 and M2 Pro chips.

M2 Mac mini
“9to5mac” reported that the new Mac mini Apple codenamed “J473”, one of which will be equipped with the M2 chip, which will also carry Apple’s next entry-level Mac and iPad series products. The M2 chip will be the first major upgrade to the M-series chips since Apple launched the M1 chip in 2020.

The M1 chip was originally developed based on the A14 bionic chip, and the M2 was based on the A15 bionic chip, codenamed “Staten”; the M2 will use the same 8-core CPU as the M1 chip, but with a more powerful 10-core GPU.

“9to5mac” pointed out that the development of the M2 Mac mini is nearing completion and is expected to be launched later this year.

M2 Pro Mac mini
Rumors indicate that Apple is expected to launch a high-end Mac mini equipped with the M1 Pro and M1 Max chips; however, after the launch of Mac Studio, the high-end Mac mini plan may be halted.

But the new Mac mini may not only have the M2 chip version in the future. “9to5mac” believes that in addition to the M2 Mac mini, Apple will also launch the M2 Pro Mac mini. As for the M2 Max and M2 Ultra chips, Apple has no plans to launch them.
